About  Paddison Wales to New South Wales, Australia
The Paddison Family originated in Scotland, England and moved to Devon, England and Wales due to religious and political movements of the time. This Family of Paddison settled in Wales, England.

The father William PADDISON and Mary Beer established a home at Trenache Farm, near Neath, Glamorganshire and fathered children who emigrated to America, Australia and New Zealand. His son John Beer Paddison emigrated to Australia and moved to Molong, New South Wales, Australia. John also returned to England in 1891 aboard the Lusitania for a short time. He married Annie Harper and became a farmer and community supporter in the Molong district,

The Paddison Family in Australia are related to the Carton, Taylor, Griffith, Whalan and Miller families.

These early Australian settlers moved to New South Wales, Australia as early as 1830. These early pioneers were the Harper family who came from Somerset and were shipwrights by trade. Thomas Harper owned and built many ships in the colony before being killed in the Marie Islands. His daughter married John Beer Paddison, while his sister Elizabeth married Charles Whalan the son of a convict. I have just found a copy of a letter from William and Mary (Beer)Paddison written to his father John at Wheatfield, Devon in 1833. If you would like the name of this original website please contact me.

One of John Beer's sons George Ernest Paddison was born in Molong,Australia. George married a young lady Ada Jane Carton and generated a large number of children. His wife, Ada, was a school teacher and taught AB (Banjo) Patterson in school at Yeoval, New South Wales.

Charles Whalen arrived in Australia in 1790's as a convict. He was assigned to government House in Sydney, New South Wales. He worked as a freeman after the completion of his sentence. His new life in the army. On his retirement, he bought land at Parramatta and the Fish River district which is now Oberon and the Jenolan Caves area. His son Charles married Elizabeth Harper, Thomas's sister. Elizabeth liked the play a Midsummer night's dream and named the town of Oberon in New South Wales from one of the Shakespeare's characters.

The research for this family tree is on going, with many new facts coming to light. I have recently traced the Vickery Family back to England. The Vickery family originate from Somerset. Robert Vicery migrated to Australia in 1855 with his wife Phebe and children. His daughter Charlotte married Christian Miller at 15 years of age. This family settled in the Central west of New South Wales. The Miller Family immigrated from Weisbaden, Nassau, Prussia in 1851 and settled in the same area. Christian is reported to have worked at Government House, Sydney for a time.

There were many Paddison's who immigrated worldwide. There is are Paddison's in Canada, Colorado, South Africa and New Zealand.

My thanks Rene Keech, Zeta Waters, Marjorie Paddison, Geoff Carton and many others for their help and information over many years.

I am very interested in your input and information. Please contact me for any conversations.
